THE DRESSMAKER • 2020
DIRECTOR: Philip White
COUNTRY: United Kingdom
RUNTIME: '4
SYNOPSIS: Mirroring loosely a classic Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, the Dressmaker is an experimental short about the struggles of a young female couturist. In the film our character represents both Anderson’s elves and shoemaker, the former, showing our character’s personal demons growing as the film progresses. Constantly bluring lines between night, day, dreams and reality the Dressmaker explores themes of work ethic, mental health and the modern day pressures of obtaining perfection. The film seeks to present its viewer with a number questions throughout.
